Kenyan farmer innovation in Horn of Africa + Sahel Knowledge Share Fair

The report of the “Horn of Africa and Sahel Virtual Knowledge Share Fair: Promoting innovation to build resilience against climatic shocks” that was held in October 2020 is now online (https://resilience.igad.int/sharefairs/2020). The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in partnership with the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Africa and Office of Emergencies and Resilience organised the week-long event.

The report documents 25 resilience-enhancing good or promising practices and experiences that were showcased and discussed during the virtual share fair. The purpose of sharing these practices and experiences that have proven impact was to further promote evidence-based decision-making, capacity building and resource mobilisation for upscaling promising practices for development in the Horn of Africa and Sahel regions.

One of the practices selected for the fair was the local goat meal developed by farmer innovator Joe Ouko in Kenya. You can find the presentation by Vincent Mariadho, Prolinnova–Kenya coordinator, and the video on the local innovation here:
